The Nonpoint Source and Basin Team currently seeks one (1) Environmental Scientist 1 to serve as a River Basin Coordinator. Holders of the Environmental Scientist I River Basin Coordinator position will, under direct supervision of the Supervisor, complete tasks such as: Maintain a river basin team consisting of governmental and non-governmental stakeholders engaged in watershed and water quality efforts Provide assistance and technical oversight to businesses, state and federal agencies, local governments, and the general public in the interpretation and implementation of environmental policies and best practices pertaining to nonpoint source pollution. Provide technical assistance and review to watershed groups, contractors, and other organizations in developing and implementing watershed plans to protect and restore Kentucky's surface and groundwater. Communicate principles of nonpoint source pollution control and 319(h) programmatic elements Develop and provide water outreach and education to the public, including preparing and delivering presentations. Holders of this job will learn the following skills: Watershed Planning. Science communication. Meeting facilitation. Desired candidates possess the following requisite skills or experience applicable to the position: Strong communication and organizational skills. Self- motivated with excellent time management skills. GIS skills and experience. Familiarity with the Clean Water Act, nonpoint source pollution, and other water topics. Comfortability public speaking. Additional position information: Travel may be required. Candidates must maintain a current driver's license. Person must be comfortable communicating in person or by other means of technology and will spend majority of the time using a computer.
