Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Chemistry
  • Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, adaptable, and effective with time management
  • Excellent communication, organization, and writing skills
  • Willingness to learn and develop new areas of expertise

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of engineered environmental and water systems
  • Understanding of the fate and transport of chemicals in the environment
  • Familiarity with drinking water and wastewater treatment
  • Familiarity with the Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, National Pollution Discharge Elimination System or Toxic Release Inventory or other related state and federal regulations
  • Knowledge of PFAS, other chemicals of concern, and/or microbiological contaminants
  • Some consulting experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Supporting multidisciplinary project teams on complex, challenging problems related to contamination investigations, environmental and regulatory compliance, litigation support, environmental assessment, engineering analysis, and remediation
  • Reviewing, interpreting, and summarizing scientific literature, regulatory standards, guidance documents, and legal case materials
  • Applying critical thinking to prepare and review complex technical reports and presentations
  • Working cooperatively on projects with other members of the Environmental and Earth Sciences Practice and interdisciplinary groups from other Exponent practices as appropriate
