About The Position

CDM Smith is seeking a talented scientist/engineer to join our team in our Bellevue Research and Testing Laboratory. This position involves conducting cutting edge treatability and laboratory research projects for a variety of clients across CDM Smith's environment, water, PFAS, and energy markets. The ideal candidate should be team-oriented and have a high attention to detail and should be comfortable independently executing experiments based on documented work plans and guidance from the project technical lead. The ideal candidate should exhibit the following characteristics: Working directly with Lab Director, to implement the strategic vision of the Research and Testing Laboratory Partnering with lab management to assess external RFPs for research projects, as well as helping maintain relationships with our teaming partners Preparing proposals and cost estimates for prospective new laboratory projects Developing and maintaining a network of internal laboratory clients (e.g. PMs, PMCLs, PTLs, and CSLs) and external clients Assisting the lab manager in the oversight of day-to-day activities for all projects in the lab Serving as a technical resource on a wide range of laboratory projects Supporting the lab director and lab manager with respect to: o Writing and/or reviewing technical reports o Assigning lab staff to lab projects based on their qualifications, experience, and career aspirations o Tracking progress of lab projects to ensure they remain on schedule and within budget o Ensuring all laboratory projects comply with CDM Smith and our clients' quality requirements Working with Leadership to ensure staff are remaining engaged in their work, and to assess advancement opportunities for them As needed, provides input to leadership of the lab staff for Focal reviews, as well as Conversations to Align/Aspire Ensuring the health and safety of all lab employees and visitors Ensuring that all laboratory waste is managed and disposed of properly Monitoring the laboratory facility itself to ensure all systems are operating properly; interfacing with the building landlord and/or equipment repair vendors as needed Ensuring lab instruments and equipment are properly maintained and calibrated Maintaining proper inventory of all required reagents, materials, glassware, etc.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science or related discipline.
  • 5 years of related experience.
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
  • The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
  • Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
