Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or closely related field
  • 5 years technical and/or field experience preparing environmental documents
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel)
  • Strong environmental writing and communication skills
  • Strong conceptual, organizational, problem-solving and research abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with desktop and field wetland delineation, state specific stream assessment methods, or state and federal wetland/waterway permitting
  • Experience with ecological/biological field work including habitat assessment and species survey
  • Demonstrated knowledge of permitting and NEPA processes in MN, WI, SD, ND, IL, and MO including familiarity with Section 404 requirements, particularly processes associated with the USACE, USFWS, FHWA, state DOT, state public utilities commissions, counties, and municipalities is preferred
  • Professional Wetland Scientists or Wetland Professionals in Training
  • Experience with Phase I or Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
  • Local candidates are preferred

Responsibilities

  • Collect project-related data, which may include research, conducting surveys for listed species, interviews with government agencies and clients, map reviews, field investigations for wetlands, land use, etc
  • Assimilate and manage data
  • Prepare constraints mapping
  • Define the level of environmental analysis required
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments
  • Perform complex assignments, making independent decisions on problems and methods
  • Assist in preparation for and participation in public information meetings and hearings
  • Assist public and private clients with permit coordination, acquisition and compliance
  • Work independently on medium-size projects, or assist more-senior scientists on larger projects
  • Perform other related duties as needed
