About The Position

Under the direction of an Environmental Scientist 4, or other supervisory officer, participates usually as one of a team, in projects and programs in the field of environmental science; does other related duties. Specific to Position This position will prepare, participate, and implement scientific projects in the Subsurface Investigation Unit to collect data to assess impacts to groundwater quality, supply, and assist in modeling efforts. Additional duties include the collection of water and/or associated pertinent data that will guide groundwater resource studies/models and/or provide information that will assist in making scientifically sound conclusions. This position will also utilize various sampling techniques, such as geophysical, to obtain the required data; conduct a study on road salt impacts to groundwater; review geophysical data obtained from other agencies to incorporate into NJGWS project designs; and provide technical expertise on geophysical and other offshore related topics.

Requirements

  • EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in one of the physical, biological or environmental sciences.
  • EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience involving research and the application of the physical, biological or environmental sciences.
  • NOTE: A Doctorate degree in one of the indicated fields may be substituted for two (2) years of experience.
  • NOTE: All U.S. degrees and transcripts must be from an accredited college or university. All foreign degrees and transcripts must be evaluated for accreditation by a recognized evaluation service by the closing date of this posting. Failure to provide documentation may result in ineligibility.
  • License Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.

Responsibilities
