This position conducts inspections of regulated activities that may release pollution into Arizona’s protected surface waters. Inspectors determine compliance with issued permits, respond to spills or releases, investigate complaints, and draft comprehensive reports. Field work is expected two to three days per week and involves driving statewide. Beyond field duties, you will promote compliance by issuing notices of violation and tracking compliance activities in multiple electronic media. The successful candidate is motivated to conduct field work in a supportive team environment to meet agency goals established to protect the designated uses of washes, streams, and lakes. This position may be available for remote work within Arizona (3 days per week in the office/hoteling). The State of Arizona strives for a work culture that affords employees flexibility, autonomy, and trust. Across our many agencies, boards, and commissions, many State employees participate in the State’s Remote Work Program and are able to work remotely in their homes, in offices, and in hoteling spaces. All work, including remote work, should be performed within Arizona unless an exception is properly authorized in advance.
