About The Position

If you are looking to launch your career in environmental science and gain meaningful, hands-on experience, this internship is for you. As an Environmental Science Intern, you will work alongside a collaborative team of civil engineers and environmental professionals supporting site investigation and remediation projects throughout New England. This role is designed to provide exposure to the full lifecycle of environmental consulting while emphasizing learning and professional development. Under the guidance of experienced scientists and engineers, you will assist with field sampling, data collection, site assessments, technical documentation, and regulatory support activities. You will gain practical insight into environmental regulations, health and safety protocols, and real-world problem-solving in the field.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in environmental engineering, environmental science, geology or related field
  • Understanding of general environmental assessment and response actions
  • Proficient in the use of current technology (i.e., tablets, smart phones, laptops, etc.)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong technical aptitude with an eagerness to learn
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Must be able to conduct environmental field investigations, including collecting soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and air samples; performing site inspections and assessments; and documenting field conditions in accordance with regulatory and project requirements
  • Must be able to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Must be able to perform field work in both hot and cold weather (rain and/or snow)
  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Responsibilities

  • Participate with field investigations, including soil, groundwater, and surface water sampling
  • Assist with data analysis and preparation of technical reports

  • Learn how environmental regulations shape infrastructure and development projects
