About The Position

The Environmental Risk Advisor will play an active role in growing our revenue and brand, emphasizing strategies and tactical actions developed in a team environment that differentiates Hylant as a trusted advisor and insurance broker to clients in the environmental risk space, operating within our Core Operating Principles. In This Position You Will Execute On: Possess a strong working knowledge of the environmental insurance marketplace which includes a firm understanding of both operational and transactional placement, carrier risk appetite, and current market conditions. Ability to identify environmental exposures, create insurance programs to address said exposures, lead coverage discussions, and make recommendations to clients, prospects, and/or the Hylant service team. Establish solid working relationships with underwriters. Interactions should include an ability to effectively describe the risk situation, make coverage requests, and negotiate terms and pricing as needed. Advance the Hylant brand to clients and prospects and build organizational confidence and sales effectiveness through coverage knowledge, program structure, innovative placement and consultative advice. Provide support and high-level coverage analysis to our Client Executives in support of renewal or new business opportunities. Assist with the educational development of our internal sales staff via content development and training sessions. Assist with building an external brand for the Environmental Practice group by developing content, attending conferences or seminars, and presenting at industry appropriate events. Ability to interpret contractual requirements and understand transactional obligations outlined in various business contracts such as purchase agreements, property lease agreements, manuscripted insurance contracts and other type of contracts. Perform other duties and special projects as requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with focus in environmental studies or legal studies strongly preferred, plus 3-5 years of experience in the environmental insurance industry or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience could include service, underwriting, claims, placement or risk management.
  • Possess a strong working knowledge of the environmental insurance marketplace which includes a firm understanding of both operational and transactional placement, carrier risk appetite, and current market conditions.
  • Ability to identify environmental exposures, create insurance programs to address said exposures, lead coverage discussions, and make recommendations to clients, prospects, and/or the Hylant service team.
  • Exceptional relationship building and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Analytical thinker with experience using analytics for risk management decision support
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Works well with others; respects the opinions, abilities and contributions of others; cooperative and open minded in working with others.
  • Ability and willingness to travel by car or airplane for meetings, conferences, or other business-related functions.
  • Computer literacy for Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Internet with the ability to create and edit spreadsheets, presentations and correspondence.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
