At RA, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We are actively seeking an Environmental Resource Field Worker to join our team! This role plays a vital part in maintaining safe, accessible, and ecologically healthy outdoor spaces across Reston. In this hands-on position, you will support the maintenance, monitoring, and stewardship of natural surface trails, natural areas, and community garden plots. The Environmental Resource Field Worker contributes directly to organizational maintenance and sustainability goals through habitat restoration, landscape maintenance, vegetation management, and field inspections. This role works closely with environmental staff and volunteers to ensure our natural resources are cared for with excellence and consistency. This position offers 40 hours per week, from Monday-Friday from April – December. These hours depend on operational needs and are subject to change.

Requirements

  • 18+ years old.
  • Enthusiastic aboutworking outdoors, in landscaping, land management, or environmental fieldwork.
  • Valid driver’s license witha good drivingrecord.
  • Ability to work independently in the field or collaboratively with a small team.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to interact courteously with the public.
  • Willingness to learn and safelyoperatetools and equipment, includingtrucks, gas-powered yard tools (mowers, trimmers, etc.)and various hand tools
  • Ability to follow established procedures, safety guidelines, and environmental stewardship practices.
  • Reliable, hardworking, and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials, tools, plants, and debris up to 80 pounds, and perform manual labor such as bending, kneeling, and walking on uneven terrain.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework in natural sciences or a related field (preferred, notrequired).
  • Experiencewith habitat restoration, invasive species removal, surveying tasks, or trail maintenance (preferred).
  • Passion for supporting sustainable land management and preserving natural resources.
