About The Position

The Environmental / Regulatory Technician supports environmental compliance and regulatory activities across oil & gas operations. This role performs inspections, sampling, testing, and maintenance of environmental monitoring equipment and provides technical support to ensure compliance with SSHE requirements, environmental regulations, and company standards. This is a field-based role requiring strong attention to detail, regulatory awareness, and the ability to interface effectively with operations, contractors, and regulatory agencies.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting SSHE and/or regulatory compliance within oil & gas or related industries
  • Strong understanding of environmental, safety, and regulatory processes
  • Ability to work independently in the field and interact with contractors and regulators
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Adobe proficiency preferred
  • OGI (Optical Gas Imaging) certification is REQUIRED

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Environmental Science, Natural Sciences, Natural Resource Management, or related discipline (AS or BS)
  • Understanding of upstream oil & gas construction and operations
  • Experience instructing contractors on SSHE compliance

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, and test multimedia environmental monitoring equipment (air, water, and solid media), including: Stack monitoring equipment PID and FID analyzers
  • Maintain equipment inventories and spare parts
  • Perform recordkeeping for environmental equipment and compliance activities
  • Provide environmental and regulatory technical support to field operations
  • Coordinate SSHE monitoring activities with Site Construction Managers and Supervisors
  • Assess and document compliance with EPC contractor SSHE plans, including: Environmental Management Plans Waste Management Plans Emergency Preparedness & Response Plans
  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled worksite inspections and assessments
  • Identify, record, report, and follow up on SSHE non-compliances and near misses
  • Interface with regulatory agency field inspectors
  • Oversee environmental sampling and analysis, ensuring sample integrity
  • Support spill response and emergency activities
  • Review and compile environmental monitoring data and laboratory results
  • Ensure timely submission of compliance and monitoring reports
  • Recommend mitigation measures for erosion control, wetlands, and river crossings
  • Monitor worker behavior related to SSHE policies
  • Participate in SSHE training and field engagement activities
  • Assist Senior Environmental Engineers with routine environmental monitoring and data collection
  • Support additional environmental initiatives as assigned
