About The Position

The Environmental Protection Specialist will be responsible for implementing incident management and environmental resource protections during pollution and hazardous substance incidents, as well as during manmade or natural disasters. This role involves coordinating with various teams and agencies to ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations, and to support disaster response efforts.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Must possess an active Passport.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the federal sector.
  • Experience in environmental management strategies and leading a team in a large-scale Environmental Program.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in international and/or national workgroups.
  • Participation in exercises and meetings related to environmental management.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the D13 Coordinator for local area, regional, and international Coast Guard interagency collaboration and contingency planning activities.
  • Coordinate with the District Response Advisory Team (DRAT) members to support natural or manmade disasters.
  • Act in an advisory capacity to support District-Wide Incident Management activity compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
  • Provide guidance to ensure the Regional Contingency Plan aligns with National priorities under the National Contingency Plan (NCP).
  • Coordinate Regional Response Team (RRT)/Join Response Team (JRT) involvement in exercises and training.
