About The Position

The Environmental Project Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and executing hazardous waste cleanup, site remediation, equipment and facility decontamination, and emergency spill response activities. This role provides leadership and clear direction to Environmental Service Technicians, ensuring projects performed outside the facility are completed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and company regulations.

Requirements

  • Maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record and possess verifiable driving experience or training.
  • Meet all federal and state certification requirements, including pre-employment and ongoing alcohol and controlled substance screening, and DOT medical standards where applicable.
  • Knowledge of HAZMAT placards and regulatory standards.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately and complete required paperwork, including daily work logs; read maps and road signs.
  • Ability to recognize and identify hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
  • Ability to follow instructions delivered through various forms of communication.
  • Strong problem-solving skills using logic and reasoning.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Motivated, dependable, and willing to learn.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid state driver’s license from state of residency to operate company vehicles.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening, background check, employment verification, and ongoing compliance during employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the waste management or manufacturing industry preferred, but not required.
  • Valid CDL Class A license with tanker and hazmat endorsements preferred, but not required. Vacuum truck experience preferred.
  • OSHA Confined Space certification preferred (may be obtained upon hire).
  • DOT Hazmat certification preferred (may be obtained upon hire).
  • HAZWOPER certification preferred (may be obtained upon hire).
  • TWIC card preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate staff assignments and work schedules for assigned projects and tasks.
  • Conduct pre-job site walks and project reviews.
  • Lead and supervise assigned personnel to ensure work is performed safely and effectively.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and enforce all safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain positive customer relationships while on job sites.
  • Perform industrial cleaning of hazardous and non-hazardous materials using high-pressure water blasting or vacuuming in open and permitted confined spaces.
  • Recognize and properly use all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to metatarsal boots, hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, long pants, and long-sleeve shirts.
  • Complete and sign off on OSHA documentation, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and maintenance service requests prior to project start.
  • Ensure all required materials and equipment are transported from the job trailer to the project site.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including but not limited to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and confined space protocols.
  • Meet physical demands including lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, walking, bending, crouching, and repetitive hand use on a continuous basis.
  • Work in confined spaces and in all weather conditions.
  • Wear a respirator when required; must be able to maintain a clean-shaven face for proper respirator fit.
  • Clean up work areas, properly dispose of debris, and ensure all equipment and materials are returned to the supply trailer upon project completion.
  • Restock supplies used during the workday.
  • Assist with the safe loading and unloading of hazardous and non-hazardous waste and related equipment.
  • Perform vehicle and equipment inspections before departure and upon return to the facility.
  • Operate equipment including pressure washers, vacuum trucks, trash pumps, water blasters, and pickup trucks with trailers.
  • Perform emergency response activities, including chemical and water spill response, tank cleanings, and equipment decontamination.
  • Safely operate various vehicles and equipment, including tanker trucks, 53-foot trailers, roll-off trailers, vacuum trucks and trailers, turbo-vac units, hydro-vacs, and flatbed trailers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to work in any weather condition and on customer property (heat, rain, cold, snow)
