About The Position

The Expanded Services Specialist is the lead technical environmental point of contact for radon/asbestos consulting contracts (government and commercial clients). Responsibilities can include client consultation, third party reviews of client supplied material for regulatory compliance to such as specific lender, client, HUD, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac, etc. Familiarity with national and local regs is required. Additional responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: proposal coordination, scoping, and sub-contractor management and engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university in related field; minimum of five years of related experience. In lieu of degree, eight years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, peers, and technical field staff.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in operating a computer, having knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, and project management software.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of Asbestos Sampling Plans, Result Analysis, O&Ms and other report deliverables.
  • Preparation of Radon Reports, Mitigation Plans, Result Analysis and other report deliverables.
  • Support Environmental Expanded Services team with other similar department related services.
  • Prepares reports for on-time delivery to client with accompanying correspondence.
  • Evaluates and interprets radon reports to characterize conditions identified in projects.
  • Communicates with clients and immediate supervisor to discuss and develop solutions, as needed.
  • Authorizes shipment/transmittal of completed reports to client.
  • Manages portfolios including client and staff meetings, communications with client and management of work for portfolio properties.
  • Acts as Technical Lead, providing guidance and technical direction for assigned regional clients and protocols.
  • Enhances professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.
  • Prepares purchase orders and necessary follow up
  • Work with technical Operations team to assure proper inclusion of findings in Environmental Reports.
  • Regularly updates scheduling database; maintains knowledge of part-time employees and subcontractor availability.
  • Assists supervisor with specific departmental duties, such as reviewing protocols and creating technical documents.
  • Trains new hire and acts as point source by answering technically oriented questions; provides guidance
  • Performs interviews and phone screens of prospective candidates.
  • Performs personnel management including technical guidance and leadership, while ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinates and directs staff assigned to projects on a project by project basis. Reviews and evaluates work progress and identifies and resolves problems.
  • Complies with federal, state and local legal requirements by studying new and existing legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on necessary action.
  • Upholds industry and company standards by providing guidance on technical issues.
  • Maintains open communication with management and staff regarding departmental and operational matters.
  • Assists in recruiting, orientating and training employees.
  • Protects operations by keeping company information confidential.
  • Delivers outstanding customer service through timely response and proactive solutions to clients’ needs.
  • Demonstrates BV’s guiding principles in support of the company's strategic goals.
  • Follows all documented policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and Work Instructions applicable to the position and support of BV's quality standards and strategic initiatives.
  • Maintains safe and clean work area by complying with all procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job.
