This role involves providing project management for the investigation, evaluation, and cleanup of abandoned mine lands. Environmental Project Officers administer reclamation projects funded by federal grants, ensuring environmental protection through the application of federal and state environmental laws and regulations. Key responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and directing interdisciplinary technical studies, evaluating project alternatives, and managing projects from inception to completion while maintaining state and federal compliance. The position also involves reviewing project and technical documents for regulatory compliance, assisting in selecting appropriate and cost-effective remedies, and acting as a liaison to the public and various stakeholder groups.
