About The Position

The Project Manager’s responsibilities will include planning, directing, and coordinating environmental projects to ensure that the goals and objectives of the project and client are accomplished within prescribed timeframes, regulatory requirements and funding parameters. These projects may include high complexity, multi-media, multi-contaminant investigations, monitoring and remediation. The customer experience is paramount, and the Project Manager will be responsible for responding to client inquiries in a timely and effective manner as well as developing business with new and existing clients, referral agents and centers of influence. The Project Manager will also be responsible for the training, development and assessment of technical staff.

Requirements

  • Degree in geology, biology, engineering, environmental science or similar science degree and ~10+ years of environmental consulting experience; a master’s degree in one of the above listed fields is a plus.
  • Experienced with environmental due diligence requirements and commercial and industrial property transactional requirements.
  • Motivated self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Exhibits the ability to follow through on commitments and meet internal and external deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Teams.
  • Able to work outside of normal business hours, as required.
  • Received 40-hr OSHA HAZWOPER training.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Ability to travel as needed, depending on project assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Principals and other staff to strategically develop plans and action items for new and/or next projects phases; train and mentor staff.
  • Possess strong technical capabilities and demonstrate technical proficiency in the assessment and remediation of various media and contaminants of concern.
  • Develop conceptual site models, forecast investigative and remedial project requirements and prepare cost estimates to implement the work.
  • Have a basic understanding of contaminant fate and transport mechanisms, geology, geo-chemistry, hydrogeology, engineering, and other physical sciences that affect contaminant migration, breakdown and or remediation.
  • Work to draw new and existing clients to J.S. Held to supplement existing client base.
  • Author and review state-specific regulations and other state technical reports including remedial investigations, feasibility studies and cleanup action plans and reports.
  • Understand and utilize state environmental standards and policies to better position clients for regulatory closure, as appropriate.
  • Develop internal and company standards, health and safety and quality control techniques.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships with the goal of being a trusted advisor to their business processes.
