About The Position

Arcadis is seeking an Environmental Project Manager / Line Manager to be based out of our Charlotte, NC office. This full-time position within our Restoration East group will help manage power and energy, freight rail, and industrial projects with input from technical experts. The Project Manager part of this position requires both office and field work; you should expect to be out in the field up to 10-25% of the time mentoring junior staff. Field work will be performed at project sites with environmental media (e.g., soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, etc.) that has been impacted with hazardous substances and/or hazardous wastes. The Line Manager portion of this position serves as a key leadership role in our business operations by focusing on the success and growth of our people and developing their technical and consulting skills. You will have the ability to successfully coordinate and collaborate with all parts of the organization, including Client Account Leaders, Market Sector Leaders, and Service Line Leaders in other geographies and business units, and will always have a direct line of communication to Area Leaders. The ideal candidate will have work experience in the utilities industry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering or closely related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in environmental consulting.
  • Previous project management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage scope, schedule, staffing, and budget for environmental remediation projects, both large and small scale.
  • Responsible for client and regulatory correspondence and interactions.
  • Lead teams to evaluate data to support conceptual site models for environmental investigations.
  • Delineate the nature and extent of contamination, evaluate, and implement remedial alternatives, and modify/optimize remediation and monitoring programs.
  • Strong writing skills are required as this role is responsible for technical report reviewing and writing.
  • Oversee and participate in people management within the Area, including hiring, onboarding, performance management and terminations, and meet with Region and Area leadership periodically for Regional strategy and business development meetings.
  • Make compensation recommendations to the Area Leader on leadership opportunities, staff promotions, quarterly market adjustments, merit increases, and spot bonus.
  • Work with stakeholders on workload leveling across the Area, including identifying staff for project opportunities and the need for external hiring.
  • Train, coach, and mentor staff on consulting best practices and motivate staff to achieve business growth goals.
  • The ability to support and implement company priorities such as GEC usage, MEPC, Digital offerings, and sustainability.
  • Be a visible steward of Health & Safety by completing required stewardship goals and being a strong mentor and example for H&S.
