About The Position

SCS Engineers (SCS) is looking for a mid-level geologist to learn from our experienced professionals. Our goal is to train an ambitious, smart, and personable geologist to work with our clients and find solutions to their environmental needs. This position has the opportunity to develop into a project and client manager, an expert in technical facets of the geology field, and experience diverse work opportunities with other SCS engineers and scientist. This mid-level geologist will join our environmental services team in our newly-opened Springfield, Missouri location, with hybrid work and a part-time work schedule available. This position includes opportunities for technical report writing, non-routine monitoring and sampling, regulatory research and review, and project management. Requirements

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Geology or a closely related major required.
  • Missouri and/or Kansas PG license (preferred) or has completed the Fundamentals of Geology (FG) exam and is making progress towards a MO or KG PG license (required).
  • Minimum of 4 years’ relevant environmental experience required.
  • Completion of 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training preferred, or willingness to complete this training upon employment.
  • Valid, unrestricted driver’s license with a driving record in good standing required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare technical reports, including groundwater monitoring data analysis and interpretation and develop tabulated data, charts, graphs, statistical analyses, and figures using good time management.
  • Prepare investigation work plans, oversee field work and subcontractors, assess site conditions, and prepare investigation reports for projects that may include landfills, industrial sites, brownfields/contaminated properties, and other regulated facilities; occasionally participate in public meetings.
  • Perform quality control reviews of work products prepared by others.
  • Prepare proposals and project budgets and participate in business development activities.
  • Communicate project status, schedules, and compliance issues with team members, clients, third parties, and regulatory agents.
  • Manage small to mid-scale projects and provide support on larger projects.
  • Perform routine and non-routine field activities including sample collection, construction oversight, and aquifer testing.
  • Complete office and field assignments in a quality and safe manner.
  • Pursue technical improvement for self and company.
