About The Position

This position is the unit lead for Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) Contaminated Lands and Brownfields programs within the Contaminated Sites Program. This position manages ~$2.5 million per year in federal funds, leads a team conducting site verification, assessment, and cleanup of contaminated sites, manages contractors, travels throughout the state conducting field work and outreach, presents at conferences and meetings, and manages a team of 8 professional staff. The position plays a critical role in providing site verification, assessment, and cleanup services for sites contaminated with hazardous substances across the state.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in an environmental, physical, biological, or natural science; engineering; planning; or natural resources
• Advanced professional experience in environmental regulation compliance, pollution control, environmental damage recovery, or programs to improve or protect environmental quality
• Experience in stakeholder management, oral and written communication, project management, performance measurement, and creativity and innovation
• 24-hour HAZWOPER training and annual refresher courses (can be obtained after hire)
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to conduct field work and become a qualified environmental professional
• Public speaking and stakeholder outreach experience
