About The Position

The Environmental Sustainability Line of Business is responsible for setting the strategy and leading the planning and development of environmental projects to achieve the Walt Disney Company’s (TWDC) 2030 environmental goals, which include emissions, water & oceans, waste, materials, and sustainable design. The Environmental Professional will cultivate environmental awareness with Cast and Leaders across the WDW property, providing support on project implementations designed to reduce the environmental impact of Walt Disney World operations, in alignment with The Walt Disney Company’s sustainability goals. They will facilitate change across all areas, including actions that require process and equipment changes, and influencing behavior impacting all leaders and Cast. They will be driving environmental efficiencies such as expanding recycling infrastructure, reducing plastics, water stewardship, and energy efficiencies by creating trusting relationships with champions, addressing implementation risks, celebrating successes and providing on-going support as Cast adapt to sustained changes. They will partner with Cast from all operations, business units and support areas to implement and sustain the programs driving towards Disney's sustainability goals In this on-site Orlando based role, you will report to the Environmental Sustainability Manager. This is a Full Time position.

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of business operations with strong problem solving, leadership, communication and influencing skills
  • Proven track record in excellent negotiation, communication and engagement at multiple levels, with both technical and non-technical colleagues
  • Conflict management skills to negotiate alignment with competing business priorities
  • Experienced leading and facilitating meetings with partners to drive culture change and implement environmental initiatives
  • Proficient in each of WDP&R's leadership competencies (Leadership, Management, Technical, and Relationships)
  • Creatively resolve problems – sometimes in areas outside your realm of expertise – and work within a dynamic, sometimes ambiguous atmosphere
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, collaboration applications, and project management tools
  • Walt Disney World operational experience
  • On average, 20-30 hours per week doing field work, walking with partners onstage and backstage, performing studies, handling waste in a variety of different weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in change management, communications, business or related field or 3+ years of relevant work experience

Responsibilities

  • Work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Influence and support leaders across all levels and lines of business to build foundational understanding of Disney’s environmental goals and advance sustainability initiatives.
  • Support efforts to address environmental challenges by participating in site walkthroughs with area leaders and contributing to follow-up and improvement recommendations.
  • Implement the cast engagement strategy by guiding necessary behavioral and process changes creatively and cost-effectively.
  • Engage and collaborate with local partners supporting daily operations to drive consistency across Walt Disney World and ensure smooth project turnover from the Environmental Sustainability line of business to the operation.
