About The Position

Apex Companies is seeking a highly motivated and hard-working Environmental Principal Engineer to join our growth-focused consulting and engineering firm. This position involves assisting in the establishment, management, and growth of a new branch office, recruiting and managing a team of technical staff, and leading project management efforts for various environmental services.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or related science.
  • Professional certification strongly desired (e.g. PG, LSRP, PE, etc.).
  • 15+ years of progressive and successful experience performing and managing diverse environmental investigation, remediation, permitting, or compliance projects.
  • Proven experience in managing both technical staff and project managers while developing client relationships.
  • Proficiency in applicable regulations and guidance (e.g. PADEP, NJDEP, NYSEC, EPA etc.) in their domain.
  • A desire to play a key role in growing our Pittsburgh metro office and contributing to the firm's long-term success.
  • Ability to build national networks.
  • Drive cross-collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the establishment, management, and growth of a new branch office with division and regional support.
  • Help recruit, build, and manage a team of technical staff to support office operations and project execution.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of strategies for recruiting new clients, leveraging existing relationships and expanding business opportunities.
  • Lead project management efforts for Site Assessments & Remediation, Emergency Response, Natural Resources, EHS & compliance, Permitting, Planning & Management or Reporting Assurance Services.
  • Support the work of others and mentor junior-level engineers & design/drafting technical staff.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and problem-solving.
  • Participate in internal and external technical organizations.
