About The Position

Stantec is seeking an Environmental Planner to join our Environmental Services Practice working within our power utility sector in the Northern California region. The position is to be based out of our Walnut Creek, San Francisco, Sacramento, Petaluma, Rocklin, Redding, Chico, Eureka, San Jose, or Fresno Office; geographic alignment with other Stantec offices will be considered based on experience. Stantec offers flexible work locations (including working from home), flexible work hours and a robust compensation and benefits package.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience performing environmental planning and permitting work for California Independent Operated Utilities (IOUs).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience performing linear facility (i.e., utility or transportation) environmental planning, permitting, and/or biological work.
  • Strong research, analysis and reporting abilities.
  • Detail oriented and capable of managing large data sets.
  • Team-oriented professional with excellent written and communication skills.
  • Experience within electric and/or gas utility projects.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel.
  • Familiarity with review and analysis of scientific data, maps, and drawings.

Nice To Haves

  • CEQA/NEPA experience.
  • CPUC experience.
  • CEC experience.
  • Ability to identify opportunities and build relationships with clients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide land use planning knowledge to support environmental review needs for public and private projects on utility programs.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary project/program teams.
  • Lead environmental permitting efforts, land use planning and coordination/management for environmental projects.
  • Provide technical study support for siting and licensing of energy production and transmission projects.
  • Support environmental impact analysis and CEQA/NEPA processes.
  • Maintain timeliness and quality of assessments for environmental projects.
  • Support project management teams.
