Stantec is seeking a Visual Resources Specialist to support our growing visual impact assessment and visualization services in the eastern United States. You will be an integral part of our team, with responsibility for project planning, impact assessment / technical analysis, and task coordination, with opportunities to support Stantec's broad portfolio of clients who operate within the North American infrastructural landscape, including power generation, electrical transmission, and energy storage, among other markets.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience producing or substantially supporting the completion of VIAs.
  • Experience with compliance to state or federal environmental review criteria.
  • Strong research, analysis, and reporting ability.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic site layouts, plan schematics, and maps.
  • A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience producing VIAs required by the National Environmental Policy Act and State Environmental Quality Reviews.
  • Familiarity with federal agencies and their methods for assessment of visual effects.
  • Experience with DSLR cameras, Autodesk 3ds Max, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Familiarity with shadow flicker analyses using WindPro for wind energy projects.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the direction of Stantec's Visual Resources Practice Lead for the eastern U.S.
  • Apply experience in technical writing to produce visual impact assessments (VIA).
  • Coordinate tasks and contributions from a technically diverse team.
  • Support multiple projects while focusing on details and managing broader components.
  • Conduct fieldwork that involves walking over uneven terrain and performing site visits.
  • Supplement work with general planning and permitting support for power generation and transmission siting and licensing projects.
