Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Science, Soils Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
  • 6 to 10 years of experience in environmental consulting, wetland science, or ecological compliance
  • EPA Construction Inspection Training Course Certificate, or equal
  • Proven ability to oversee construction for compliance with the NPDES Construction General Permit and other environmental permits
  • Previous experience working on transportation and publicly-funded projects
  • Proven experience conducting wetland/resource area delineations using state and federal protocols
  • Familiarity with New England environmental regulations
  • Previous experience presenting complex projects in a public setting
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Strong client management abilities with a focus on fostering new business opportunities
  • Strong technical writing skills, including the ability to prepare clear, accurate, and formal reports
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Must be able to collect field data and measurements
  • Must be able to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Must be able to perform field work in both hot and cold weather (rain and/or snow)
  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Nice To Haves

  • Proven ability to lead initiatives successfully while maintaining excellent planning and coordination skills
  • PWS or WPIT Certification
  • CESSWI, CPESC, and/or CPSWQ
  • Qualified to perform wetland delineation in CT (e.g., member of SSSSNE)
  • Familiarity with MA Wetlands Protection Act, local bylaws, and MEPA regulations
  • Familiarity with MA Stormwater Management Standards

Responsibilities

  • Provide environmental / construction compliance oversight on large multi-year infrastructure projects
  • Prepare clear, accurate, and compliant environmental monitoring reports under CGP and Clean Water Act
  • Lead field-based investigations, including wetland and other resource area delineations using state and federal methodologies
  • Prepare clear, accurate, and compliant environmental review documentation under NEPA, MEPA, CEPA, etc.
  • Prepare clear, accurate, and compliant environmental permit applications under federal, state and local regulations, including Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, MA Wetlands Protection Act, and local wetland bylaws
  • Support municipal and state agency clients across New England with environmental permitting, ecological assessments, and regulatory compliance
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret environmental data to guide ecological evaluations and project planning
  • Present projects at public hearings
  • Prepare technical comment letters, review SWPPP and dewatering plans, and ensure consistency with regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate with agencies such as MassDEP, USACE, CTDEEP, RIDEM, CRMC and local conservation commissions
  • Maintain detailed field notes and contribute to technical reports that inform client decision-making
  • Perform environmental permitting feasibility studies to guide project planning and decision-making
  • Collaborate with engineers, planners, and scientists to deliver high-quality, well-coordinated project outcomes
  • Guide and mentor junior staff in project tasks and professional growth
