About The Position

The Environmental Manager at W. R. Grace & Co. is responsible for overseeing environmental compliance and management at the Curtis Bay plant. This role involves the design, development, and implementation of programs to meet local, state, and federal environmental regulations. The Environmental Manager will supervise key personnel, manage waste operations, and lead sustainability initiatives while ensuring compliance with environmental standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in manufacturing, chemical industry, or related field.
  • Direct EHS-related experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations at local and federal levels.
  • Ability to work effectively both individually and within a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • High level of personal motivation, with a drive for ownership and accountability.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to travel periodically to corporate office and other Grace manufacturing sites may be required - up to 15%.

Nice To Haves

  • BS degree in Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing, chemical industry, or related field.
  • Certification in DOT Hazmat.
  • Supervisory and leadership experience.
  • Experience in specialty chemical manufacturing, particularly in air, water, and waste permitting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop metrics to track Environmental Management system maturity.
  • Oversee all environmental permitting and waste management, including landfill operations.
  • Manage the Emergency Response program and maintain relationships with external resources.
  • Identify and implement sustainability opportunities.
  • Supervise Site Security Services at the facility.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate environmental risks.
  • Lead and participate in environmental audits and inspections.
  • Provide training and guidance on environmental policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate environmental considerations into operational decisions.
