About The Position
The Environmental Specialist is responsible for administering environmental programs and policies, as well as serving as the subject matter expert. This role involves developing and monitoring various dairy plant programs including wastewater management, water supply management, waste reduction, and water conservation. The specialist will handle air permits applications, NPDES permits, land application permits, storm water permits, and hazardous waste generators license. They will assist in completing environmental compliance forms and establish contacts with regulatory personnel including MPCA, DNR EPA, and other agencies having jurisdiction. The position also includes project management and cost justification in capital expenditures, coordinating AST, UST upgrades, and oversight of spill prevention plans. A good working knowledge of environmental regulations is essential, along with the ability to communicate new and changing environmental regulations. The specialist will direct and administer the AMPI Environmental Management System, Environmental Policy, and Environmental Audit Policy, and will conduct, oversee, review, and communicate environmental audits of manufacturing facilities. Additionally, they will develop and monitor a program for reporting sustainability information and provide environmental support and information for dairy processing.
