Reporting to the Sr Environmental Management Manager for the Downstream Operating Segment, this position supports the execution of global environmental programs. This role provides guidance and assistance on individual projects, including permitting and regularory reporting, and helps operations effectively manage environmental compliance and risk.

Requirements

  • University degree with at least 7 years of related experience serving as an individual contributor in a leading-edge environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in either Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Geology, Hydrology or Chemistry
  • 7+ years professional experience
  • Strong knowledge of local, state / provincial, and federal environmental laws and regulations.
  • Strong technical expertise in environmental compliance and experience working with agency representatives
  • Excellent working knowledge of environmental regulations and regulatory landscape and strong foundation in environmental engineering, environmental sciences, or similar discipline (advanced qualifications in one of the above preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and direction in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of Nutrien’s environmental matters across the Downstream Operating Segment
  • Contribute to and implement Environmental Management strategy and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Provide hands-on technical expertise to internal stakeholders in support of environmental compliance issues and best practices
  • Provide guidance on existing regulations and new regulatory developments
  • Support with acquisition of environmental permits and meeting regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in the environmental audit and check-in processes
  • Steward to Nutrien’s Culture of Care. Develop and support projects that contribute to making Nutrien a strong steward of the environment.
  • Develop and foster strong relationships built on trust with internal groups, contractors, and federal, state, and local agency representatives to ensure the continued effectiveness of company environmental programs.
  • Promote collaboration between the SHE team and the Downstream Operating Segment
  • Ensure team and project budget goals are met, and technically support Operating Segment environmental liabilities
