About The Position

The Environmental Justice Law Clerk position at the Environmental Law Institute (ELI) is a paid summer clerkship for Howard University law students, focusing on environmental law and policy with an emphasis on environmental justice. The clerk will assist with various projects aimed at supporting overburdened communities and enhancing sustainable development planning. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a law student at Howard University.
  • Broad knowledge of or interest in environmental law and policy.
  • Excellent skills in policy and legal research and analytical writing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated self-awareness, cultural competency, and inclusivity.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with environmental law and policy projects, particularly those focused on environmental justice.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support various projects.

  • Engage in one-on-one conversations with professionals in environmental law and policy.
