Heidelberg Materials is seeking an Environmental Intern to join our team in Connellsville, PA for the summer of 2025. This internship offers a unique opportunity for students interested in gaining comprehensive experience and knowledge in the environmental aspects of the construction materials business. As an intern, you will work in multiple locations, providing you with insights into a stable industry that is essential for building our future. The company operates more than 450 locations with approximately 9,000 employees in the U.S. and Canada, making it a proven leader in the hot-mix asphalt, ready-mix concrete, and construction materials industry. In this role, you will perform environmental audits to ensure regulatory and corporate compliance, conduct on-site permit compliance evaluations of ready-mixed concrete (RMC), hot-mix asphalt (HMA), and mining operations. You will also prepare regulatory environmental permit applications and audit findings reports for distribution to operations management. Additionally, you will assist environmental managers with routine tasks and continuous improvement initiatives, help facilitate community relations and sustainability initiatives, and prepare reports for submission to regulatory agencies. Maintaining and updating the online environmental management system and preparing, revising, and/or updating emergency spill prevention and response plans will also be part of your responsibilities. Various administrative tasks and any other duties as assigned will round out your internship experience.
