Job Summary The Environmental Intern will provide entry level support to the Environmental Air Team and work with a cross-section of engineers, operations, construction and project management on various projects and  assist in day to day air compliance.  Students will gain an understanding of the planning and design process for a pipeline and compressor station projects under development and the various aspects that go into preparation of an air permit application.  Students are expected to have a basic understanding of environmental requirements and math to help analyze data and assist with permit applications, data entry for greenhouse gas emissions and/or criteria pollutants, and review of various monitoring/recordkeeping requirements for reporting.   The intern will receive hands-on experience in environmental compliance by participating in field inspections, reporting, and exposure to various air permits and regulations. The intern will gain insight and experience in sustainability programs and ESG initiatives.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate and Graduate students enrolled in an accredited four-year college or university are eligible. Students will no longer be eligible to hold an internship position upon graduation from their program unless the student has been accepted into another degree program.
  • Graduating high school seniors who have been accepted to begin college in the fall are eligible to apply if they will be at least 18 years of age prior to their start date. A college acceptance letter must be provided.
  • Students must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • College students will be asked to provide an official transcript as proof of eligibility prior to receiving an offer of employment.
  • Some assignments will require driving. This position will require students to have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
  • Must live within a commutable distance from the office
  • Proficiency in computer applications applicable to the specific work field/discipline including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Effective time management and a personal commitment to work

Responsibilities

  • Assist with project air permit application reviews/data gathering of engineering specs needed for permitting
  • Data management and analysis of air emission inventory data (12-month rolling total emissions).
  • Data entry regarding energy usage for Scope 2 GHG emissions
  • Assist with monitoring/recordkeeping review of operations data needed for deviation reporting
  • Assist with review of stack test reports and LDAR documentation
  • Assist with review and upkeep of various key Smartsheet databases (leaks, releases, rod packing, etc.)
  • Quality review of other air quality plans, documents, and reports for data tracking.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned or required.
