We are currently seeking resumes from qualified, responsible, self-sufficient, energetic Environmental Professionals to oversee environmental compliance during construction of a solar facility outside of Commerce, Texas. Job Description: The position is for an on-site Environmental Inspector who will verify contractor compliance with pertinent environmental regulations, environmental permits, project-specific conservation measure, environmental commitments, and technical provisions. This role will be a key member of the construction management team overseeing construction on behalf of the project owner. The ideal candidate can work independently to confirm environmental compliance and in close coordination with the Construction Manager and members of the construction team, as needed, to verify non-compliance concerns are addressed in a timely manner to avoid agency stop work orders. Essential qualifications for this position include sound knowledge of Texas regulatory agencies and their regulatory oversight of natural resources. Desirable qualification includes an understanding of the natural systems of Eastern Texas.

  • Reviewing daily, weekly, and monthly project progress reports.
  • Reviewing agency reporting and verifying that agency reporting is completed within regulatory timeframes.
  • Attending daily and/or weekly project scheduling and safety briefings.
  • Performing weekly site walk-throughs to verify on-site environmental protections are in place.
  • Inspecting construction activities and ensure compliance with applicable permit conditions.
  • Verifying construction environmental compliance documentation is uploaded to the project tracking database.
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in environmental management, natural resources, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the fields of natural resources management, environmental permitting, environmental regulatory compliance, or construction monitoring.
  • Field experience in the Southwest US with general understanding of the natural systems of Eastern Texas.
  • References regarding experience will be required.
  • Proficient understanding of the federal Endangered Species Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Clean Water Act, and National Environmental Policy Act.
  • Proficient understanding of Texas regulatory agencies and their regulatory oversight of natural resources.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, as well as computer hardware and software skills.
  • Ability to work closely with fellow employees, contractors, and a construction team.
  • Ability to work independently on one’s own initiative as well as a member of a diverse team.
  • Ability to foster a positive work environment and organize and manage multiple assignments.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Valid driver's license, with the ability to maintain insurability under the company's insurance carrier.
  • Ability to work in harsh outdoor conditions (heat, cold, dust, wind, and rough terrain).
  • Ability to climb stairs without assistance.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds and carry a 30-pound backpack for at least 1 hour.
