The salary range for this position is: $60,000 - $75,000. The shift hours for this position will be from 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM. Position Summary: The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist is the management representative and responsible for obtaining and maintaining ISO14001 & ISO45001 for the division. This position will create and sustain a culture where safety comes first and employees are accountable for their own and their colleagues' safety with support from management. Oversee the daily activities that may impact the health or safety of the employees and/or the environment at Magellan Aerospace Processing, New York. This position will work with employees from various departments to develop and monitor the aspects and impacts of all processes to assure proper reporting and compliance structures are in place meeting all applicable federal, state and local legislations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Environmental Sciences, Occupational Health Science, and/or environmental/ chemical engineering.
  • 30-Hour OSHA Certification.
  • 0-5 years Environmental experience, preferably in Chemical Treatment /processing environment.
  • Basic understanding and training of OSHA & Environmental legislation/regulations, ISO14001 knowledge, RCRA knowledge, HazMat knowledge, First Aid/CPR certified.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Project, and Power Point
  • Proficient business communication with all levels within the organization.
  • Write and analyze reports, correspondence, procedure, and training materials.
  • Interface effectively with regulators, joint health & safety representatives, employees, and management.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and maintain ISO14001, applicable environmental Permits, ISO45001.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state and local legislation and codes governing EHS department.
  • EHS external/corporate reports.
  • Coordinates EHS training for current and new employees.
  • Work with all departments to meet and improve on MAPNY's EHS performance.
  • Conduct/Participate quarterly and yearly environmental council meetings, as well as monthly safety meetings.
  • Performs daily/weekly/monthly compliance EHS inspections.
  • Supervises and maintains office documentation, files, reports and records.
  • Collects and assemble company's H&S, waste, water and GHG data and information for environmental projects and reports.
  • Creates and revises environmental and safety procedures/instructions.
  • Coordinates EHS compliance programs related to hazardous wastes, air permitting, and water pollution control.
  • Maintain waste disposal records.
  • Identify root causes of EHS non conformities and propose appropriate action plans.
  • Coordinate and oversee EHS operations to ensure regulatory compliance and permit renewals.
  • Maintain First Aid kit and Personal Protective Equipment inventory.
  • Conducts annual emergency response drills.
  • Serves as emergency response assistant.
  • Promote EHS awareness through internal company memoranda, notices and postings.
  • Administer and/or perform required air quality testing, EHS audits including 6S/Continuous Improvement.
  • Schedule OSHA required testing (respirator, hearing and blood tests).
