About The Position

The Environmental Health & Safety Intern at Lamb Weston will support the Environmental, Health, and Safety department, focusing on safety within manufacturing facilities. The intern will engage in various projects under the guidance of a mentor, conducting assessments and implementing corrective actions to enhance workplace safety. This role provides an opportunity to learn about the EHS field while contributing to continuous improvement efforts in a dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled or a recent graduate of a Bachelor's or Master's degree program related to Safety & Health or a related technical field (e.g., mechanical/industrial engineering).
  • Preferred candidates are Juniors, Seniors, or Master's degree students with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Demonstrated strengths in relationship-building and problem-solving.
  • Continuous improvement mindset and methodology.
  • Excellent verbal and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong computer competency, including experience with MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct ergonomic assessments, machine safety assessments, or walking-working surface assessments using Lamb Weston assessment tools.
  • Utilize the hierarchy of controls to implement corrective and preventative actions (CAPA) based on assessments.
  • Track CAPA's to completion throughout the internship.
  • Assist the onsite internal auditing committee in quarterly reviews of the EHS Framework elements.
  • Participate in audits, including walk-throughs, employee interviews, and report development.
  • Interact with hourly plant employees while assisting the Safety Manager with various projects.
  • Shadow the onsite EHS team to gain insights into a career with Lamb Weston.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement efforts as a member of the EHS Team.
