About The Position

Safety is our number one priority, and we have a proactive Environmental Health and Safety Program. The EHS Intern will report to the EHS Manager and will support these efforts at our New Hartford, CT location. The position provides hands-on experience in an exciting fast-paced manufacturing environment. Qualified candidates should be able to work 40 hours a week, 8 hours a day, on-site Monday - Friday.

Requirements

  • Rising Junior or Senior in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering preferred.
  • Problem solving capabilities necessary to accomplish the duties and tasks of the position.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and planning skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to share knowledge and work in a strong team-oriented environment.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Promote safety as the number one priority for all employees.
  • Support an employee-driven safety culture to proactively eliminate safety hazards by assisting in the management of the Safety Observation Card process.
  • Participate in waste, stormwater, and safety compliance inspections on a regular basis.
  • Participate in front-end process engineering events focusing on risk assessment, evaluation of new processes for safety and ergonomic considerations.
  • Perform daily walk throughs, risk assessments, audits, training sessions, and more.
  • Help the organization be compliant with federal and state laws.

Benefits

  • $21.00-$27.00 per hour, commensurate with relevant experience and educational background.
