About The Position

The Environmental Health & Safety Engineer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations and implementing health and safety policies within the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• 3+ years of experience in the design, development and operational oversight of environmental, health and safety disciplines

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in engineering with an emphasis in occupational health and safety
• Strong knowledge and experience in interpreting, applying and documenting federal, state and local safety and environmental regulations
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Familiarity and implementation of machine guarding and industrial hygiene programs
• Experience with emergency response communication and incident management in incidents involving hazardous and non-hazardous material releases to air, soil, and water
• Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and/or guidelines established by OSHA, NFPA and NIOSH and other applicable regulatory agencies
• Collaborate with department leadership to complete job hazard assessments and implement health and safety policies and procedures
• Monitor employee exposure to physical and chemical hazards
• Understand and implement machine guarding when needed
• Develop recommendations for remedial actions when safety policies are not met by employees
• Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment in order to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations
• Complete and maintain documented safety observations from regular hazard identification audits
• Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine root causes, corrective actions and preventive measures
• Develop, implement and maintain safety contingency plans (fires, spills, etc.)
• Develop and maintain compliance with all applicable regulations established by the EPA, CERCLA, RCRA, DOT, TRRC, RWQCB, NEPA and other applicable regulatory agencies
• Ensure that resources are allocated appropriately to safety-related items
• Ensure technicians are completing required safety inspections via daily communication and oversight
• Ensure hazards are being appropriately addressed and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) assessments are created
• Maintain recordkeeping and compliance requirements established for permitted sources defined by the local AQMD
• Maintain compliance with the Certified Unified Program Agency

• Pay range: Environmental Health & Safety Engineer/Level I: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00/per year
• Pay range: Environmental Health & Safety Engineer/Level II: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00/per year
