Requirements

  • BS degree and/or equivalent related experience.
  • 8+ years' experience with safety leadership in the wholesale distribution or construction industry.
  • Ability to identify trends and implement best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience with implementing EH&S systems across multiple facilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment.
  • Ability to impact and effect change with a positive approach.
  • Demonstrated successful experience in a high performance work environment.
  • Ability to manage personnel through strong leadership skills.
  • Superior knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulatory requirements.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving history.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred certifications include: Occupational Health & Safety technologist (OHST), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Associate Risk Management (ARM) credentials.
  • Bilingual strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws/regulations and internal policies and procedures.
  • Anticipate, identify, and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices.
  • Develop hazard control designs, methods, procedures, and programs.
  • Implement, administer, and advise others on hazard controls and related programs.
  • Measure, audit, and evaluate the effectiveness of hazard controls and related processes.
  • Work with the Director of EH&S to develop and implement risk management objectives.
  • Conduct safety assessments, inspections, and field observations.
  • Facilitate and document safety training for management and employees.
  • Mentor safety professionals in OSHA, DOT, EPA, and Hazardous Materials Transportation management.
  • Investigate incidents and perform root cause analysis.
  • Compile safety data and provide management reports on safety activities.
  • Advise management of non-compliance discoveries.
  • Coordinate environmental assessments of real estate transactions.
