The Environmental Health and Safety Associate Director is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing EHSS management systems to ensure high levels of EHSS performance and regulatory compliance for the applicable Zimmer Biomet site(s). This role involves partnering with site leadership to instill a culture that engages all levels of the organization and embeds EHSS as standard work. The Associate Director will facilitate and promote the integration of environmental sustainability into Operations, implementing the highest EHSS standards and best practices while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local laws at both existing and new facilities. Key responsibilities include developing and providing oversight for EHSS Policy and EHSS Management System procedures, driving consistent practices across the applicable site(s), advising management and working with site EHSS staff to ensure compliance with applicable regulations including OSHA, EPA, and DOT in the U.S., and evaluating significant accident and hazard investigations to recommend corrective actions. The role also involves maintaining an effective internal EHSS audit program, monitoring delivery of effective EHSS related training, and providing guidance regarding major facility renovations and process modifications to ensure that EHSS issues are addressed. Additionally, the Associate Director will develop and promote environmental sustainability strategy, collaborate with third parties to manage and track best practices and new regulations tied to ESG initiatives, and maintain the EHSS section of the company’s external internet web page.
