About The Position

The DeKalb County Health Department is seeking a part-time (22.5 hours per week) Environmental Health Practitioner (EHP). The position will function as a member of the Health Protection Team under the direction of the Health Protection Director. Candidates must have excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with internal and external customers in a professional manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health or related field with at least 30 semester hours of Basic Sciences (with at least 3 hours in each of the following areas: physical sciences, chemical sciences, biological sciences and math).
  • LEHP or LEHP in Training preferred.
  • Ability to work weekend and evening hours as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • LEHP or LEHP in Training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs food sanitation inspections.
  • Monitors and enforces standards of public health protection to help prevent and control the spread of communicable disease.
  • Prepares reports, compiles data and maintains records.
  • Performs well and septic inspections, nuisance complaint inspections, inspections of tanning and body art facilities and other Environmental Health duties as assigned.

  • Starting salary range Licensed Environmental Health Practitioner (LEHP): $30.16 an hour
  • Environmental Health Practitioner (EHP): $25.78 an hour
