About The Position

This position pays $25.00 per hour. This position will assist in the Environmental Health Services division with conducting active tick surveillance in Weld County, with data management for West Nile Virus surveillance, and will also assist with communicable disease case investigations. The ideal candidate will have experience or familiarity with conducting environmental health investigations and/or communicable disease case investigations, and a proficiency in data management and writing inspection or investigation reports. This job requires handling confidential and sensitive information. The ideal candidate will be able to work well with a variety of different people from varying cultural backgrounds, utilizing tools available to aid in communication. The ideal candidate will work closely with others on the Environmental Health Services Team to foster a strong team environment and will be comfortable working collaboratively to strengthen relationships that are essential for success. This position is for a current student ONLY. The student must have completed a minimum of 60 hours from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 30 hours of science coursework (biology, environmental health, chemistry or related). ONLY current students that meet this minimum requirement will be considered. This is a temporary part-time position running from April through June, 20 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Minimum completion of 60 hours from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 30 hours of science coursework (biology, environmental health, chemistry or related).
  • This position is for a current student ONLY.
  • Only current students that meet this minimum requirement will be considered.
  • Pre-employment substance screening is required for this position.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Employment is contingent upon successfully passing the screening in accordance with Weld County policy.
  • Employment for this position is contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
  • This is a temporary part-time position running from April through June, 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct tick surveillance activities.
  • Manage West Nile Virus surveillance data.
  • Conduct communicable disease case investigations.
  • Write summary reports and appropriate correspondence.
  • Adhere to County work hours, policies, procedures, and rules governing professional staff behavior.
  • Adhere to County policies governing the observation of confidentiality and the handling of confidential information.
  • Assume personal and professional responsibilities for his or her actions and activities.
  • Maintain professional relationships with County employees, customers, and so forth.
  • Utilize a courteous, enthusiastic, open-minded, critical approach to policies and procedures within the profession.
