About The Position

The Environmental, Health and Safety Technician at Jones Sign is responsible for promoting a culture of safety within the organization. This role involves direct interaction with employees on the production floor to ensure compliance with EHS standards, conducting audits, and providing training and resources to enhance workplace safety. The technician will assist the EHS Manager in various safety initiatives and maintain records related to environmental, health, and safety protocols.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two or more years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience in a safety role or significant leadership role on an employee safety committee is preferred.
  • General understanding of OSHA regulations.
  • OSHA 30 General Industry certification is a plus.
  • MEWP and PIT certification is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to address large groups in person or via web conferencing.
  • Strong desire for personal and professional development.

Nice To Haves

  • MEWP and PIT certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a daily presence on the production floor to work with employees and equipment.
  • Support required EHS standards to ensure the safety and security of employees.
  • Perform spot audits for employee compliance on inspections and daily job hazard analysis (JHA).
  • Participate in investigations of near misses, incidents, injuries, or illnesses to discover root causes and develop corrective actions.
  • Conduct plant workplace inspections and audits to identify work hazards and exposures, creating corrective actions as needed.
  • Assist in developing EHS safety training for the workforce and track training completion.
  • Maintain department files for environmental, health, and safety records.
  • Be a resource for employees on safety policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate new employee safety orientation and follow up with new hires to ensure safety expectations are communicated.
  • Assist in communicating safety information to management and employees through various platforms.
  • Conduct inspections of safety equipment and collaborate with the Safety Manager to schedule training sessions.
