About The Position

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager at Great Lakes Coca-Cola is responsible for leading and managing employee health, safety, and environmental activities within the organization. This role collaborates with management and other functions to ensure compliance with EHS regulations and to implement programs aimed at reducing workplace injuries and enhancing safety protocols. The EHS Manager also provides subject matter expertise for manufacturing and distribution facilities, supporting various compliance programs and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Risk Management, Environmental or related field with 6+ years of experience in safety, risk management, and/or environmental, or a High School Diploma with 9+ years of experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Knowledge of local, state, or federal environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Progress towards industry certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
  • Knowledge of procedures to evaluate and control physical, chemical, biological, and ergonomic hazards.
  • Experience with Safety and Environmental Management Systems, such as ISO 18001 and 14001.

Responsibilities

  • Implement programs to reduce workplace injuries and collisions and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal policies.
  • Evaluate and certify the effectiveness of company EHS programs through inspections and audits.
  • Provide subject matter expert (SME) guidance to assist compliance with EHS regulations.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and share best practices.
  • Manage compliance programs related to ergonomic, asbestos, ammonia, wastewater, and storm water.
  • Ensure compliance with Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), OSHA, and DOT regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and create contingency plans.
  • Assist with facility gap assessments and corrective action plans.
  • Participate in Worker's Compensation Claims reviews as needed.
  • Gather and analyze EHS data, develop goals and manage scorecards for EHS programs.
  • Collaborate with the Legal Department on permit applications and compliance queries.
  • Prepare for emergency situations and establish an emergency response team.
  • Develop and deploy EHS awareness and compliance training programs.
  • Serve as a member of the facility's crisis management team during serious incidents.
