This role provides hands-on exposure to industrial safety programs, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives within a fast-paced production setting.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel required).
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and spend time on the production floor.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
- Ability to walk the production floor for extended periods.
- Ability to wear required PPE (steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.).
- Occasional lifting up to 40 lbs.
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily safety floor audits and hazard identification.
- Support incident investigations by collecting statements, photos, and documentation.
- Help track and analyze safety performance metrics (near misses, first aid cases, recordables).
- Assist in maintaining Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical inventory records.
- Participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) development and risk assessments.
- Support environmental compliance activities (waste management, stormwater inspections, air permit documentation).
- Conduct PPE and machine guarding compliance audits.
- Assist with safety training materials and toolbox talks.
- Support emergency preparedness drills and response planning.
- Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with OSHA and company standards.
