The Environmental Health and Safety Engineer position is a critical role within an industry-leading provider of continuous emissions monitoring systems located in Englewood, CO. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the company's environmental safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations. The engineer will maintain an inventory of safety equipment, perform periodic safety inspections, and monitor hazardous waste removal vendors. Additionally, the role may involve assisting in the consolidation of hazardous wastes, which can include chemical, radioactive, and medical waste. The Environmental Health and Safety Engineer will interact with various departments to conduct training in emergency response and hazardous material handling. This position also requires monitoring environmental compliance and maintaining a liaison with appropriate regulatory agencies. The engineer will recommend corrective actions where environmental health and safety hazards are identified. The work of the EH&S Engineer, who is also an Industrial Hygienist, encompasses industrial hygiene, life safety, and ergonomic compliance-related activities. Furthermore, the engineer will interact with others in administering the worker's compensation program and implementing workplace ergonomics and program solutions while monitoring industrial health compliance. This role demands a multi-tasking individual who can handle frequent interruptions and is detail-oriented, capable of documenting and communicating exceptionally well both verbally and in writing. A motivated self-starter who is goal-oriented and can complete tasks quickly and efficiently with minimal daily guidance from a manager will excel in this position. The engineer will support the hardware service team by managing cloud browser-based safety applications such as Browz, ISNet World, Sphera, TAPPISafe, and DISA, ensuring that documentation demonstrates compliance with site-entry safety requirements for contracted services. The engineer will also work directly with customers to verify that safety programs and OSHA records meet their evolving requirements. Additional responsibilities include tracking personnel site hours to comply with Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) regulations, assessing, tracking, and scheduling individual safety training to meet yearly goals and site entry requirements. The engineer must possess the ability to read, analyze, and interpret various business documents, write reports and correspondence, and effectively present information to groups of managers, clients, and the general public. The role also requires mathematical skills to calculate figures and amounts, solve practical problems, and interpret a variety of instructions in different formats. Other duties may involve reviewing contract specifications, creating service proposals, and completing quality assurance tests for instruments. This position may require occasional travel, estimated at no more than 10% of the time.
