Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist-Greenfield, IN The ESH Specialist will be reporting directly to the Site EHS Manager and with a dotted line reporting relationship to the Plant Manager, the EHS Specialist serves as a EHS point of contact for the assigned site, with responsibility for day to day EHS operations, compliance, and performance. In addition to managing site level EHS activities, this role supports the Site EHS Manager by assisting with EHS compliance, performance management, and continuous improvement initiatives across other regional sites. The EHS Specialist maintains regulatory EHS compliance and drives continuous improvement in EHS programs, processes, and culture through effective risk management, training, incident investigation, and coaching of site leadership and employees.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in EHS in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of EHS regulations and methodologies.
  • Experience with incident investigation, risk assessment, and corrective action implementation.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft, data analytics, and EHS systems or tools).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Standards preferred.
  • Professional certifications are recommended (e.g. CSP, ASP, CIH, CHMM)
  • An associate or bachelor’s degree (preferably Environmental Health and Safety related)
  • First-Aid/CPR Instructor license

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the Development, implementation, and updating an EHS management system, in accordance with EHS regulations and aligned with company objectives, collaborating with local staff and corporate EHS.
  • Monitor and measure EHS performance using KPIs and metrics; proactively identify and implement corrective actions for off-track metrics.
  • Analyze EHS data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement and drive continual improvement.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all current federal, state, and local EHS regulations and permits.
  • Ensure all environmental processes and operations are properly permitted; maintain compliance with permit conditions; and manage the timely completion of all environmental permit renewals, regulatory reports, and compliance obligations in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Serve as a contact for EHS regulatory agencies, including preparation for inspections, response to findings, and follow‑up corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure EHS compliance, promote safe behaviors, and verify adherence to EHS requirements.
  • Deliver training programs on EHS topics for all employees in accordance with local regulations and company policies.
  • Create and maintain training records, safety programs, compliance records, and incident records.
  • Investigate incidents, perform root cause analyses, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Conduct risk assessments and job safety analyses and ergonomic assessments to mitigate EHS risks and ensure safe work practices.
  • Ensure contractors and service providers comply with site EHS requirements, including onboarding, training, and safe work practices.
  • Support the workplace health and safety committee, ensuring regular meetings and effective worker participation.
  • Communicate and become a subject matter expert for the facility-specific emergency response and evacuation plans.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve EHS issues and drive continuous improvements.
  • Coordinate workplace injury and illness case reporting and case management.
  • Establish consistent EHS communication across the organization to foster a world-class safety culture.
  • Provide and coordinate first-aid and emergency medical response for injured employees, ensuring trained responders, maintained supplies, timely care, and appropriate incident documentation.
  • Draft, and manage capital projects to deliver safety-related improvements across the organization, including scope development, budgeting, contractor oversight, and regulatory compliance .
  • Other duties as assigned.
