About The Position

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Director for North America at Avery Dennison is a strategic leadership role responsible for implementing and managing comprehensive EHS programs across the region. This position aims to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations while fostering a proactive safety culture and leveraging technology to enhance EHS performance. The EHS Director will collaborate with various stakeholders to drive EHS excellence and continuous improvement initiatives, ultimately shaping the future of safety within the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing, with strong understanding of regulations and best practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, excellent communication skills, and capacity to influence diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to use data for decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Vision for leveraging technology in EHS management within Industry 4.0 context.
  • Adaptability, resilience, and passion for excellence in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage regional comprehensive Health and Safety programs to ensure adherence with local, state, & Federal regulations, and best practices.
  • Support the development of corporate strategies, standards, programs, and processes that drive standardization and consistency.
  • Lead the development and execution of regional EHS strategies that align with global objectives and business group goals.
  • Foster a proactive safety culture through innovative programs, employee engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Spearhead the integration of cutting-edge technologies (IoT, AI, data analytics) to enhance risk assessment, hazard identification, and EHS performance.
  • Build a high-performing EHS team by recruiting, coaching, mentoring, and fostering talent within the region.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to plant leadership teams, ensuring compliance with regulations and company standards.
  • Conduct thorough incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Proactively assess risks, emerging challenges, and changing business conditions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives and drive sustainable practices.
