About The Position

The EHS Coordinator at Mittera is responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations across the organization. This role involves inspecting, observing, and directing safety practices in accordance with OSHA, DNR, DOT, EPA, and other guidelines. The EHS Coordinator will work closely with management and employees to foster a culture of safety and will be based in Jacksonville, FL.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related subject highly preferred.
  • 2-5+ years of relevant experience in a health and safety field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental programs as well as workers compensation.
  • Effective communication skills with all levels of the organization.
  • Basic math skills for practical problem-solving.
  • Ability to interpret various instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to work effectively in stressful situations and meet stringent deadlines.
  • Organizational skills to plan, prioritize, and follow through on projects with minimal supervision.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and quality/safety oriented.
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership, organization, and communication.
  • Ability to develop new techniques for work processes.
  • Ability to give technical direction to others and lead multiple safety teams.

Responsibilities

  • Review and update health and safety procedures as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and Local Government rules, regulations, policies, and guidelines including OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, DOT, and Fire Department regulations.
  • Develop mechanisms for the improvement of key safety programs.
  • Assist with safety compliance training.
  • Determine regulatory requirements and permitting needs for new and modified processes including air, hazardous and non-hazardous wastes, storm water, and green initiatives.
  • Create and implement safety plans and ensure adherence to them.
  • Conduct and review safety observation reports regularly.
  • Attend safety walks and inspections to analyze safety risks.
  • Lead safety committee and educate employees on safety standards and expectations.
  • Provide recommendations for improving workplace safety.
  • Investigate onsite accidents and identify possible causes.
  • Partner with Human Resources to manage OSHA 300 log.
  • Maintain documentation of the company's safety procedures, accidents, and related events.
  • Act as a liaison between management and external safety agencies.
