(B.C., Canada), is currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to support our team in Selah, WA.   • Ensuring compliance with all applicable SunRype Health and Safety standards, federal and state health and safety regulations, and ensuring necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines
  • Implementing and enforcing best practices and procedures for plant safety
  • Collaborating with department leaders (managers and supervisors) to ensure safety requirements are being adhered to at all times and verifying that employees consistently follow safety protocols
  • Ensuring outside contractors, vendors, and temp labor comply with GMPs and health and safety requirements
  • Training new and current employees (direct and temporary) on company safety policies and procedures, and governmental agency regulations pertaining to employee safety, in coordination with Human Resources
  • Coordinating and co-presenting annual safety training, in collaboration with plant leadership
  • Leading and facilitating the delivery of technical training programs
  • Developing training programs and materials including outlines, text, handouts, hands on exercises, and training evaluations
  • Facilitating applicable safety training such as but not limited to LOTO, OSHA, Forklift, MEWP, Ammonia, Ergonomics, etc.
  • Monitoring results of training and collecting feedback on training instructors to determine effectiveness and identify areas for improvement
  • Participating in OSHA inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures
  • Maintaining current OSHA certifications as applicable, and new OSHA regulations, safety procedures and chemical regulations
  • Facilitating emergency action planning including annual evacuation drills
  • Maintaining Ammonia Awareness certification, training, and safety procedures (alarm testing, evacuation, and emergency systems)
  • Identifying and controlling hazardous workplace conditions
  • Coordinating the removal of physical, biological, and chemical hazards
  • Handling risk assessments to gather information on safety issues
  • Analyzing health and safety data for root cause and corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Reviewing and recommending changes to regular activities as needed
  • Maintaining the VelocityEHS system, ensuring information is up-to-date and accurate
  • Co-investigating workplace accidents/incidents, in collaboration with safety committee team members
  • Co-performing monthly safety inspections, documenting findings, and communicating to the organization, in collaboration with safety committee team members
  • Co-leading safety committee meetings, discussing action items and solutions for corrections
  • Maintaining safety procedures such as Steam, Fire (inspections, fire extinguishers, evacuation, backflow testing), and Chemical (eye wash and shower stations, PPE)
  • Participating in the plant Safe Quality Foods program
  • Developing and reporting on Key Performance Indicators
  • Any other task deemed necessary to effectively administer the health and safety program
  • Developing prevention and remedies for pollution incidents
  • Developing and coordinating waste, recycling, and water conservation programs
  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) from a two-year college in Health and Safety preferred
  • High school diploma required
  • 2-5 years of experience in environmental, health and safety programs in a manufacturing environment
  • Able to attend work on any shift and any day of the week
  • A genuine interest in and understanding of environmental and safety issues and relevant legislation
  • Must be able to train effectively
  • Proficiency in computer programs such as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong leadership abilities

  • OSHA 30 Hour for General Industry or similar EHS certification preferred
  • Extensive demonstratable knowledge of lockout tagout and confined space
  • Demonstratable experience with behavior-based safety
  • Demonstratable experience with hazard identification and abatement
  • Certified trainer in Fall Protection, LOTO, Confined Space, Hot Work, and Hazardous Materials
  • Hold current Occupational First Aid Level 2
  • WA State Driver’s License
