The incumbent in this position shall be responsible for multiple environmental health programs in Hendry and Glades Counties. This position requires technical knowledge within all assigned environmental health programs. The incumbent must be able to exercise discretion and make professional judgments within all assigned environmental public health programs. Primary responsibilities include monitoring and conducting routine inspections of limited use public water systems and coordinating and conducting water well construction inspections. Other responsibilities monitoring and conducting routine inspections of aerobic treatment units, tattoo establishments, biomedical waste facilities, and schools. Position functions independently and under the direction of the Environmental Manager. This position is headquartered at the Florida Department of Health in Hendry County, Division of Environmental Health, and reports directly to the Environmental Manager. The incumbent in this position is considered to have regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of Chapter 60L-36, Florida Administrative Code. Reviews and recommends action on license applications for biomedical waste facilities. Perform routine compliance inspections on biomedical waste facilities according to Chapter 64E-16 and Florida Statutes 381.0098. Completes inspection forms accurately and completely. Submit copy of inspection to owner/management company either in person, by email, or regular USPS mail. Submit inspection report to supervisor for review. Inform owner and/or management company of violations noted during inspection. Perform re-inspections as needed, following stated time frame. Implement rules of Chapter 64E-16 and Florida Statutes 381.0098 to bring each facility into compliance. Keep supervisor informed of all progress. Performs routine compliance inspections on aerobic treatment units in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 62-6 and Florida Statutes 381.065. Upon request, drafts appropriate correspondence for compliance and enforcement actions. Perform re-inspections as needed, following stated time frame. Implement rules of Chapter 62-6 and Florida Statutes 381.065 to bring each facility into compliance. Keep supervisor informed of all progress. Perform routine compliance inspections on public and private school facilities according to Chapter 64E-13 and Florida Statutes 381.006. Completes inspection forms accurately and completely. Submit copy of inspection to owner/management company either in person, by email, or regular USPS mail. Submit inspection report to supervisor for review. Inform owner and/or management company of violations noted during inspection. Perform re-inspections as needed, following stated time frame. Implement rules of Chapter 64E-13 and Florida Statutes 381.006 to bring each facility into compliance. Keep supervisor informed of all progress. Reviews and recommends action on license applications for tattoo artists and tattoo establishments. Perform routine compliance inspections on tattoo artists and tattoo establishments according to Chapter 64E-28. Completes inspection forms accurately and completely. Submit copy of inspection to owner/management company either in person, by email, or regular USPS mail. Submit inspection report to supervisor for review. Inform owner and/or management company of violations noted during inspection. Perform re-inspections as needed, following stated time frame. Implement rules of Chapter 64E-28 to bring each facility into compliance. Keep supervisor informed of all progress. Conduct required maintenance on equipment and assigned vehicle, as needed. Participate in in-service training programs as required and within time specified. Remain aware of Security Policy protocols. Perform as assigned ant other duties within the scope of environmental health as directed by the supervisor. Enter Daily Activity Records on daily basis. This position may be required to present expert witness testimony and represent the Department in legal proceedings involving noncompliant persons of facilities within Hendry and Glades Counties. Performs other related duties as assigned, including disaster preparedness assignment.
