You will immediately contribute to the successful delivery of active projects and collaborate with a diverse team of technical leaders across site investigation, remediation design, and implementation for key public and private clients. We seek a candidate with a strong technical foundation in environmental investigation/remediation who is eager to grow their technical career with us at AECOM.

Requirements

  • B.S. in geology, environmental sciences, environmental engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in the environmental remediation consulting industry (private or public) or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and education.
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Successful candidate will have to pass a background check and motor vehicle records check, and a drug assessment driven by client needs to get access to some sites.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER (current or ability to obtain/refresh).
  • 5+ years of environmental remediation consulting experience.
  • PG certification.
  • Demonstrated experience on site remediation projects: field sampling, data analysis, technical writing, task management, cost estimating and proposal development, and project implementation.
  • Experience implementing rigorous health and safety standards and ensuring compliance.
  • Familiarity with NJDEP SRP processes and documentation (ARRCS, Tech Regs, PA/SI, RI/RA, Deed Notice, CEA/WRA, RAPs, and RAO support under an LSRP).
  • Experience with remediation technologies and systems (e.g., SVE, excavation, ISCO, bioremediation, in‑situ stabilization).
  • Experience applying remedial strategies to achieve closure (in‑situ remedies, institutional/engineering/administrative controls).
  • Strong research and technical writing skills (including web‑based research and literature review).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; strong quality and time‑management skills.
  • Self‑starter with strong initiative and attention to detail.
  • Interest in supporting business development activities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead task management and field programs for environmental investigations, including air/soil vapor, soil, and groundwater sampling; geologic logging of unconsolidated sediments and bedrock; and subsurface characterization and interpretation.
  • Develop remedial strategies for soil and groundwater impacts using established scientific principles and technologies, including feasibility studies, removal action plans, and remediation design packages.
  • Interpret and validate data; perform analyses; and benchmark findings against applicable New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) Site Remediation Program (SRP) requirements, ARRCS, Tech Regs (N.J.A.C. 7:26E), and relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Support preparation of investigation and remediation documents such as Preliminary Assessment/Site Investigation (PA/SI), Remedial Investigation (RI) work plans and reports, Remedial Action Work Plans (RAWPs), design drawings/specs, Receptor Evaluations, Deed Notices, CEA/WRA packages, Remedial Action Permit applications, and RAO support under an LSRP.
  • Prepare and implement work plans and cost estimates; compile/analyze datasets; and produce clear, defensible technical reports.
  • Develop proposals and detailed level‑of‑effort/cost estimates for new opportunities.
  • Plan and execute fieldwork; direct and oversee subcontractors (laboratories, drillers, surveyors, earthwork/excavation, remediation system vendors).
  • Serve as a liaison with client facility personnel, subcontractors, NJDEP/regulatory case managers, and project stakeholders; support permitting and regulatory interactions.
  • Lead health and safety planning, job hazard analyses, and field hazard recognition; model a strong safety culture.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, regulators, colleagues, and subcontractors; contribute to team coordination in both in‑person and virtual settings.
