About The Position

About the Landfill Environmental / Habitat Team This internship is part of the Landfill Environmental / Habitat crew—a team known for its innovative thinking, collaborative spirit, or commitment to sustainability. You'll get to explore [specific tools, projects, or initiatives], learn how things work behind the scenes, and help WM drive purpose in everything we do. Whether you're diving into data, pitching ideas, or helping make things run smoother, what you do will matter—and we want to hear what you think. We have several wildlife-focused projects already underway, and we would like to pursue habitat certification. We have a pollinator and habitat project that you will be assisting on.

Requirements

  • Interns must have a High school diploma or GED (accredited) and be pursuing or have recently completed a Bachelor’s degree (accredited) in a field of study relevant to the internship.
  • Please note that you’re expected to do 20% of travel in relation to your work.
  • In order to travel by air or access federal property, federal law requires individuals have a REAL ID or an acceptable alternative. This position may require the successful candidate to travel by air for business reasons, or service federal property. Accordingly, successful candidates must have, or be willing to obtain, a REAL ID, or TSA approved alternative.

Nice To Haves

  • Junior or Senior year students in the Forestry or Environmental programs.
  • Project Management experience
  • Must be available Mid May to August.

Responsibilities

  • Uses problem solving skills, determines problems, and understand fundamental parts of the problem.
  • Conducts analysis as directed, and prepares and delivers insights and recommendations based on analysis.
  • Synthesizes findings and draws conclusions from analyses and makes oral/written recommendations to supervisor and/or manager.
  • Executes tasks directly related to functional projects and/or process improvements.
  • Communicates issues and roadblocks related to areas of responsibility.
