Requirements

  • Preferred: bachelor's degree in relevant scientific discipline (e.g., environmental science, geology, civil, or environmental engineering).
  • 1-3 years of field inspection and/or environmental consulting experience.
  • Ability to work independently or in a project team with demonstrated excellence in written and oral communications, presentations, analytical, professional judgment, and team building skills.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
  • Working knowledge of health and safety practices.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Preferred: Experience with field data collection methods, including pipe push camera operation, electronic collection of field observations, soil/rock logging, and soil/water sampling.
  • Ability to learn through on-the-job experience.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, physical and motor vehicle records check.
  • Must have ability to work in ambient environments for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to regularly travel, hours may vary. Projects may be 1 day to a weeklong.
  • Requires up to 75% travel.
  • Must have ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Preferred: OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification, including current annual refresher.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of field activities that include sewer and storm drain inspections; stormwater inspections and sampling; site reconnaissance; natural resource documentation; soil, soil-vapor, and groundwater investigations; drilling, trenching, and excavation oversight.
  • Complete video inspections of sewer and storm drainpipes, log field activities on web-based application in real time, and complete field evaluation of the video footage.
  • Conduct storm water compliance inspections for construction, industrial, and municipal sites, including storm water sampling and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Collect multimedia samples (air, water, soil, soil-vapor) for field and laboratory testing.
  • Procurement of field equipment and supplies, including inspection for defects and troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Equipment calibration, operation, and maintenance.
  • Record and interpret data, coordinate analyses, compare findings to relevant studies, screening levels, and local, State and Federal regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Develop work plans and health & safety plans, coordinate with agencies, subcontractors and clients to execute projects.
  • Prepare Phase I and II investigation summary reports for submittal to agencies.
